Introduction  Incidence : less than 2%    Most common site - 2~6cm from the insertion site       - due to poor vascularity (especially in lateral side)

Indirect trauma > direct trauma


Mechanism

    - Sharp unexpected dorsiflexion

    - Violent dorsiflexion as in a fall from a height

    - Pushing off with the weight bearing forefoot while extending the knee

    - Degeneration (age, fluoroquinolone, steroid…)
